Xilvara Myrthshade was a shadowborn enigma, carrying fragments of a life lost to time and infernal power. Her memories began not in innocence but in blood and darkness—a waking curse that tore away her childhood and tethered her soul to the crimson throne of Sutekh, the Lord of Blood. As one of his Sanguine Knights, Xilvara found purpose in the chaos of battle, her blade an extension of her master’s will and her body a vessel for the sanguine magic he had bestowed upon her. Though she lived in the kingdom, a specter of elegance and menace, Xilvara rarely lingered on the possibility of a past beyond her servitude. The forgotten years were like whispers in the wind—just out of reach, and yet too faint to stir her curiosity. To question her origins was to invite weakness; the Lord of Blood had made her who she was, and that was all that mattered. As a Sanguine Knight, she was feared and respected, her every stride exuding an aura of power that left none daring to ask what lay behind her piercing, crimson gaze. Still, there were moments—rare and fleeting—when she would feel the weight of something missing. In the stillness of midnight, the faintest echo of laughter or the sensation of warmth on her skin might flicker in her mind, unbidden and unwelcome. Such sensations, though ephemeral, gnawed at her like phantom pain. Who had cursed her so thoroughly that her memories were stripped bare? Was she merely a creation of Sutekh, or had she been someone of meaning, someone loved? These were questions she buried deep beneath layers of resolve and duty, dismissing them as indulgences unfit for a knight bound to infernal power. Xilvara’s life in the kingdom became a delicate dance of dominance and survival, for even as an Illrigger she was acutely aware of the schemes that surrounded her. The kingdom itself was no stranger to intrigue, and Xilvara’s position earned her allies, enemies, and sycophants—all vying for favor or power. For her part, she navigated these webs with calculated grace, her loyalty to Sutekh steadfast and her wit sharp enough to keep challengers at bay. Yet, despite her strength, there was a void within her—a void that neither glory nor bloodshed could fill. Perhaps one day, whether through divine intervention, infernal betrayal, or sheer force of will, Xilvara might uncover the pieces of her shattered past. Perhaps she will discover who she was before the curse—or perhaps she will choose to embrace the shadow entirely, finding solace in the knight she has become, rather than the girl she might have been. Though oblivious to the curse that had shaped her existence, Xilvara's loyalty remained unshaken, her belief in her place as Sutekh's knight absolute. Yet the threads of fate have a way of tugging at even the most steadfast souls, and the day may come when events conspire to challenge the fabric of her reality. Sutekh, ever ambitious and cunning, tasked Xilvara with a mission beyond the infernal dominion—a vital quest to recover a powerful relic hidden in the mortal realm. The artifact’s magic was believed to hold the key to fortifying Sutekh's reign and expanding his influence across planes, and Xilvara, trusted above all others, became his chosen champion for this endeavor. Whether through an unforeseen quest, a rival wielding forbidden knowledge, or the peculiar resonance of an ancient relic, the truths buried beneath her servitude may one day rise to the surface. For now, Xilvara remains what she has always been—a shadow in the service of the crimson throne, unyielding in her devotion and unaware of the forces quietly shaping her destiny.

Lumara Stormchaser has spent her entire life on the seas smuggling goods (and sometimes people) across borders. While she is by no means charitable, she does have a soft spot for families in need and will often accept a homecooked meal as payment for the things she brings them or the safety she can offer for getting them to a new home. On the other hand, she has little patience for those who throw their gold around just because they want some fancy sword or drink. She will charge more than double the cost of the goods for these types of people and they still pay just to save face with those around them.
While she has lived on her ship, The Infernal Siren, her entire life, she still calls Duskwater Bay her home. A busy port town, Duskwater sees all manner of people. Messengers from other cities and kingdoms are a dime a dozen here as they bring all kinds of requests to the smugglers that call this their home. Lumara makes sure to visit Duskwater as often as possible to pay her respects to her parents who asked to be buried there shortly before passing. Nephira and Malikai were good parents who taught Lumara almost everything she knows but she wishes she knew what had caused their sudden death and why they seemed to know it was coming. Nevertheless, she continues smuggling. She gained her powers shortly after losing her parents by making a deal with Ran when she realized that she could no longer trust anyone but herself to protect her.
Laela Caustari was a princess for the first 34 years of her life. A Durathi woman, she was born to Queen Cyalianith and Prince Dalnur of the small kingdom of Tharoven. While the majority of the kingdom had no issue with their Elven queen marrying her true love, a Dwarf, there were a small group of dissenters, led by the Queen’s own brother, Sylroth. Sylroth and his supporters believed that the Queen had ‘tainted’ the bloodline, and that Laela herself was an abomination. The royal family was having a quiet private dinner one evening when Sylroth emerged from the shadows, first slitting Dalnur’s throat and cutting off his beard while his lackeys grabbed Laela and Cyalianith, then forcing them to go with him deep into the forest just outside the kingdom. Sylroth tied the Queen up with her own husband’s beard and forced her to watch as he poured acid down Laela’s throat. Laela heard her mother’s screams and Sylroth’s terrible laughter as her world went dark.
All of a sudden, Laela was awake, alive, and completely unscathed. The acid had awakened the bloodline of the black dragon, so ancient that it had been completely forgotten to time. The body of her mother was in front of her, still tied up, with Sylroth’s dagger still in her chest. Laela clutched the body of her mother, still warm to the touch, and swore to take revenge on Sylroth and every single one of his conspirators for what they did to her parents, and to take back her mother’s throne, no matter what it took.
